Loose stones
Diamonds
Choose the stone first and build the piece around it. We source to a brief rather than selling from a fixed case, so tell us the shape, the weight and the budget and we will come back with real options.
Shapes
Eight cuts, and what each one does
Cut matters more than most people are told. Two stones of the same weight can look a size apart depending on the shape and how well it is proportioned.
The most light return of any cut, and the reference point every other shape is judged against.
Reads larger than a round of the same weight, and lengthens the finger.
Long open facets. Shows clarity honestly, so the stone has to be clean.
Softened corners, warmer and less sharp than a princess.
A round and a marquise in one. Point direction matters when it is set.
Emerald outline with brilliant faceting underneath.
Square face, sharp corners, a lot of brilliance for the weight.
The largest face-up area per carat of any cut.
Prices are not listed because loose stones are priced individually on weight, colour, clarity and cut together. Anyone quoting a flat price per shape is guessing.
The 4Cs
What actually changes the price
Cut
How well the stone is proportioned, which decides how much light comes back out. The one C that is purely workmanship, and the one worth protecting when the budget gets tight.
Colour
Graded from colourless downward. The difference between neighbouring grades is hard to see once a stone is set, which is where money is often saved.
Clarity
What is inside the stone. What matters is whether you can see it, not what the certificate letter is — and that depends a lot on the cut.
Carat
Weight, not size. Two stones at the same carat can look different face-up, which is why shape and cut are worth settling before weight.
Natural or lab-grown
Chemically the same material. Lab-grown costs less for the same look and holds its value differently. We will tell you which you are looking at, every time.
Certification
An independent report describing the stone. Ask for it on anything significant. We will say plainly whether a given stone comes with one.

Shape, rough weight and a budget is enough to start. We will come back with what is actually available rather than a brochure.
